<description>[...] By now you&#8217;re probably interested in getting a local listing, but you&#8217;re unsure how or where to proceed. Well, let me be your guide. After reading Michael&#8217;s post &#8220;Waiting for the Wrong Search Engine&#8221; I decided to try it out myself. I found getting a local listing wasn&#8217;t always so easy or clear cut. <description>Hi Donna, Thanks for your comment. We&#039;ve gotten a few e-mails back on this topic - and I just want to clarify one point (and then we&#039;ll put a separate post about this topic by Monday).

This clarification - The majority of small businesses in the United States do not have web sites (this may or may not be surprising). The article I wrote about local search is a way to get businesses listed for sure in local searches - whether they have a web presence or not! In other words, the searcher would find this business - with name, address, phone and other details of the business (hours of operation, for instance) - with or without a web site.

I didn&#039;t make myself clear in the article - and that is why this is such important information, especially for small businesses that don&#039;t have a web presence (and for those that do!)

My fault for not making this point better.
